Treatment Options for your Anemia
If you’ve come to the conclusion that your chronic fatigue is due to anemia, then it is time to put together a treatment plan and learn about all of your options. If you do develop anemia, you may not be able to continue your cancer treatments so it is important to do everything possible to combat it early. Even if your hemoglobin level has only slightly dropped, there are things you can do right away to help avoid anemia.
There may be changes you can make to your diet to not only get more iron from your food, but get the building blocks required to keep the RBC production cycle going. If you are not getting what you need from your diet, you may want to discuss vitamin and mineral supplements with your doctor. If your hemoglobin drops below normal, then your doctor may prescribe a type of medication called Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agent (ESA) or may decide you need to receive a blood transfusions.
